How to Press Heat Transfers without Leaving Any Scorch Marks?
When pressing on polyester, have you ever lifted the press and realized… uh-oh, you’ve left heat marks behind. You know the ones – the tell-tale shape of the press or a slight change in color or texture where the fabric is overheated.
While these can sometimes be removed, it’s best to avoid them altogether. But how?
Teflon Pillows
One option is using Teflon heat press pillows to distribute the heat more evenly, minimizing the hard edge that causes the scorched shape. But even this doesn’t solve the problem every time.
Teflon Paper or Platen Cover
Another option is using a sheet of cover paper that extends past the edges of your transfer – this can also minimize the edge marks. Using a soft platen cover can also help.
